Eating Disorders & Disordered Eating
Eating disorders and disordered eating are complex experiences that affect far more than food alone. They can impact physical health, mental wellbeing, relationships, identity, and quality of life.
Many people assume eating disorders are only about weight or appearance, but they often develop from a combination of biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors. Recovery is rarely linear, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
At Dahlia Dietetics, I provide compassionate, evidence-based nutrition support for adolescents and adults experiencing:
Anorexia Nervosa
ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
Binge Eating Disorder
Bulimia Nervosa
Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED)
Chronic dieting and disordered eating
Body image concerns
Difficult relationships with food
My Approach
I work collaboratively with clients to support nutritional rehabilitation, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. Care is tailored to the individual and grounded in trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and weight-inclusive practice.
My work is informed by evidence-based approaches including:
Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM)
Family-Based Treatment (FBT)-informed principles
Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-informed approaches
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed approaches
I recognise that recovery looks different for everyone. Together, we can explore practical and sustainable ways to support nutrition, challenge unhelpful food rules, reduce distress around eating, and rebuild trust in your body.
You Don't Need To Be "Sick Enough"
Many people delay seeking support because they feel they are not unwell enough, don't fit common stereotypes of eating disorders, or believe they should be able to manage on their own.
If food, eating, body image, or nutrition are having a significant impact on your life, you deserve support.
Working Together
Appointments are available via telehealth Australia-wide, with in-person appointments available in Newcastle, NSW, from August 2026.
I regularly work alongside GPs, psychologists, psychiatrists, families, support workers, and other members of a person's care team to provide coordinated and collaborative care.
